5th APEC III stereo view exchange - Shab Levy

Summer of 1995. This one block plaza in the center of downtown Portland has been called “Portland’s Living Room.” Perhaps this is the most important statement that Portlanders have made about their positive attitude for open spaces and abundant parks. A city block without a building on it, it serves anyone’s style and taste. From food fairs to classical concerts, from grunge to gowns, this is the place to watch and be watched.

The square was built on the site of a parking garage with the help of many donors who in 1984 bought a brick bearing their name, to form the 64,000 brick-pavement of the square.
