Abbott and Costello Meet The Creature from the Black Lagoon DVD

Abbott and Costello Meet the Creature DVD cover art

We all remember when Abbott and Costello met Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula, the Invisible Man, the Mummy and even Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But do you remember when Abbott and Costello met The Creature? Yes, it really did happen, not on the big screen but on live television. On Sunday, Feb. 21, 1954 Abbott and Costello hosted NBC's Colgate Comedy Hour. In a live comedy sketch, devised to promote Universal's newest monster, America witnessed the brief but memorable meeting of Abbott and Costello and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Ben Chapman plays The Creature and Glenn Strange as The Frankenstein Monster. Also starring Norman Abbott (nephew of Bud Abbott). This sketch is available on DVD along with trailers for Abbott and Costello's monster films and the Creature from the Black Lagoon films. Run Time: 75 minutes. Note: This is not a feature length Abbott and Costello film. The actual sketch is only about five minutes long.

Bettie Page Realist 3-D Slide

Bettie Page smiling at the camera while wearing a red hat and holding her red blouse open revealing her breasts.

A Bettie Page Realist 3-D slide sold for $102.50 with 10 bids. Longtime 3-D seller Dr. T who always comes up with gems like this described the slide as, "Original Stereo Realist slide of Bettie Page. It appears that Bettie Page was posing for a photoshoot in 1957. The slide in mounted on a Roto-Vuer 3-D metal mount. The film used is not Kodachrome so the colors have faded, but still looks sharp. A label found on one slide of this lot (NOT THIS ONE) reads: 'Betty Page Nov 22/57 at Rubeo'. Considering that Bettie Page stopped modeling in 1957, this is one of her last photoshoots. A very rare original Bettie Page slide from one of her last photoshoots."
